The Power of a $2 Bill May 18, 2008

So I used to have this blog called the ‘Dredge Report. No trace of it still exists, save for the comic strip graphic I jiggered up as a placeholder when I took it down. Anyway, for the past couple of years I didn’t have the iron will to keep blogging, but since my little dalliance with grad school is nearly over, I’m feeling like blogging maybe isn’t so totally over. Also, I’m moving 3000 miles away soon, and blogging is as good a way as any to keep up with my D.C., NYC, and Boston friends.
I’m visiting D.C. this weekend to see various and sundry friends, and I decided on Friday night that I’d resurrect the ‘Dredge Report if everyone gave me a dollar. This netted me about $6 and paid for part of a cab ride, so I consider the fundraising drive a stunning success. What pushed it over the edge was Tom’s generous donation of a $2 bill that a cabbie had given him recently. That single grandfatherly move helped me see that this was fate, that a $2 bill only comes along once every…well, like not very often.
So, here. Blog. It’s back. Let’s seal this deal with a paraphrase of the Boy Scout oath: “On my honor, I will try to serve Blog and My Ego, and to obey the rules of the blogosphere, to link to others at all times, and to keep myself excessively cynical, sarcastic, and hilarious.”
Woo!
someone left “denton friends” off the list
just sayin
you are now in my google reader
take that!
