I’ve gone to a couple of prenatal yoga classes so far and have mostly enjoyed them. The class I was in today has women ranging from 12 to 39 (!) weeks along, and it’s interesting to see the body diversity on display — big bellies, small bellies, everything in between. The classes are nice and mild — no chaturungas, for example. Today it got a little weird when the instructor invited everyone to squat and then led us in a series of Kegel exercises. Because, um, nothing awkward about that.
Toward the end she asked us all to walk around the room randomly, without making eye contact with the others. Apparently this was so we could focus on “taking up all the space we needed,” but as we lumbered around slowly all I could think about was how stoked I am for season 3 of The Walking Dead.
